How Beyond Elegance Uses Action Form And Action Grid To Increase Customer Satisfaction
We love our small business customers! Here’s a peek at how Beyond Elegance uses Action Form and Action Grid to simplify client order process.
Background
Beyond Elegance is a rental store featuring items for weddings, corporate events and special occasions. Located in Des Moines, the store receives orders from all over the USA. Beyond Elegance collaborates directly with many multi-event coordinators from different areas of the USA, ensuring shipping to those outside the local area or personal delivering to those within local area.
The Challenge
Beyond Elegance holds a large portfolio of products which are arranged in 24 categories called up by 150 characteristics for each of them, representing a total of over 1000 possibilities. Initially the orders could be made by phone or email, using a catalogue and an excel document the client had to fill out and send to the company.
Beyond Elegance needed to decrease the time spent by the customers to place an order, to have fewer wrong items shipped to customers and to improve the Same Day shipping service.
The Solution
The solution was built on top of Action Form and Action Grid. It was a challenge to incorporate all the information contained by the initial excel document.
Action Form concepts and actions used:
- Bind Expressions – to give the cascade appearance and childfather structure using Drop-down.
- Static Text – to upload specific file formats (.jpg, .gif) or display information in specific conditions
- Run SQL Query – to recognize the difference between new order (insert) and edit mode (update)
- Redirect to URL – for view order
- Send Email Action – to receive the order in an accurate and efficient manner, to automatically get information about the user and to send order confirmation to user’s email address.
- Razor Script – to retrieve data from Action Grid
Further on we’ve used in Action Grid the Database Tabel to load information from the server and the Where Clause option to filter the results that were displayed from the database.
The Result
When the user visits beyondelegance.com and is surfing between items, he doesn't need to remember the items he requested or to be preoccupied about their order, because an easy, friendly and dynamic form with pictures will help him make the right order.
When accessing the order form the user finds only one field from which he needs to choose a category.
Depending on which product the user chooses, he will get another case with multiple choices, helping him to describe the product he wants. This case will be followed by another case with a similar relationship, and so on. The final result will be a picture with all specifications chosen before.
While ordering, the user will always have on the page a table with all the steps he took while ordering and he will be able edit or delete them.
DNN Sharp’s modules have greatly improved our workflow. Back in our dark pre-Action Form days, the orders were made by phone or email, using a catalogue and an Excel document the client had to fill out and send to us.
This was time-consuming and tedious. But now? We receive an alert when the order is placed.
With the time that we save, we can focus on making our products and services even better for our customers.
